Our mission is to help people become fully alive in Jesus Christ.
We welcome you to come as you are and be encouraged and equipped to worship, love, serve, and tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ. We strive to be rooted in God’s Word, surrendered to God in prayer, committed to koinonia, and full of expectation. Alive is a place where you’ll find people in all stages of their spiritual journey. We’re not concerned about what you wear or what you look like on the outside, because what matters the most to God and to us is that we’re being transformed on the inside to become more and more like Jesus Christ. Join us for our weekly worship celebration on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM at 106 North Pike Road, Sarver PA 16055. There are many ways you can get connected beyond Sunday mornings at Alive, and we’d love to help you become part of our church family as you live a life of eternal significance and impact in the world.Becoming fully alive in Jesus Christ
Becoming fully alive in Jesus Christ is a process of surrender and dying to sin as we strive to become more and more like Him. It begins when we are saved by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection. At salvation, we stop living for ourselves and our desires, and we begin to live for the glory of God. The process of dying to self and living for God’s glory continues on until we see Jesus face to face.
Together, we learn to worship. Worship is far more than something we do on Sunday mornings by singing and listening to a sermon. Our worship – ascribing worth to God – encompasses everything that we do in life. Our work and education, our relationships, our hobbies, and even our entertainment are all opportunities to glorify God.
Together, we learn to love God with our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love others as we love ourselves. God is love and one of the true marks of somebody that loves God is our love for other people – our family and our church family; our friends, neighbors, and co-workers; strangers on the street; and even our enemies.
Together, we learn to serve others with our gifts and our talents. We are a community that believes it is a privilege as a follower of Jesus Christ is to lay down our lives for the sake of others, as we commit to one another in mission and ministry. We serve in tangible and spiritual ways by giving and by doing what others cannot do for themselves.
Together, we learn to tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ. There is no greater act of love or service than sharing the Gospel with somebody that does not yet know it or believe it. With patience and passion, we tell others that Jesus loves us and demonstrates his love for us in his death and resurrection from the dead, and that we can be made fully alive in Him simply through believing and trusting that He is Savior and Lord.
Our Story
After serving in various youth ministry roles for 10 years, Pastor Dave felt a burden to start a new church in southeastern Butler County to help people know what it means to be fully alive in Jesus Christ. Pastor Dave and Jessie began hosting Bible studies and worship gatherings in their home in the Spring of 2009 and Alive Community Church held its first public worship gathering on September 20, 2009 at the Southpike Cinemas in Sarver.
Alive experienced rapid growth in its early years followed by rapid decline in 2014 and 2015. Pastor Dave describes much of 2015 as feeling like Alive was on life support. In 2015, Pastor Dave began to shift to expositional preaching – verse by verse – and during a 38 week sermon series in the book of Romans, God began to breathe new life into Alive.
In December 2016, Alive moved into its current location thanks to the generosity and kindness of the former Sarver Brethren Church. For the first time in its 7 year history, true fellowship and community began to grow within our church family. In the summer of 2017, the Brethren denomination decided to give the 40 year old building and property outright to Alive rather than sell the building to the highest bidder, because they were pleased to know that the Gospel was being preached and that lives were being transformed by the work of the Holy Spirit.
Today, we are continuing to build a community of believers who are committed to being fully alive in Jesus Christ. Together we worship, love, serve, and tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ as we root ourselves in God’s Word, surrender to God in prayer, build koinonia, and stand amazed with expectation at how God faithfully does what only He can do according to his promises.
