Our Beliefs

God

We believe that there is only one God, who is sovereign over all of creation, past, present and future. God exists eternally and equally as three distinct and equal persons of the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Scripture

We believe that God has revealed Himself – His nature and His will – through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in the Bible. The Bible is the Spirit-breathed Word of God – infallible, trustworthy and authoritative in all matters of faith and life. The Bible is the Word of God to all men and women everywhere written without error by human authors through the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Humanity

We believe that God created humanity in His image for the purpose of reflecting His glory and majesty and for a relationship with Him. Humanity is the pinnacle of God’s creation.

Sin

We believe that all people are sinful and that our sin separates us from God. Though we are created in His image, because of the original sin of Adam, we are separated from God by a sin nature and because of the commission of sinful acts. In our sin, we reject God’s will for our lives and bring dishonor to His name. We believe that because of our sin, we are objects of wrath and deserve punishment from God, who is intolerant of sin because of His holiness and perfection.

Salvation

We believe that God redeems fallen humanity from its sin because of his unconditional, perfect love for all persons. God expressed his love for people through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ. Through his suffering and death on the cross, Jesus Christ, who was himself without sin, though he was fully human and fully God, became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God. Jesus Christ died a substitutionary death on the cross in our place, because His death alone could satisfy the wrath of God towards sin. We believe that Jesus rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless and perfect life and is the only perfect sacrifice for the sin of the world. We believe that salvation and forgiveness come through Jesus Christ alone, and that He alone has the power and authority to offer forgiveness for our sins. There is no other means of salvation and forgiveness apart from Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that those who experience the saving and redeeming work of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit are set free to live the abundant life that Jesus promised to those who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and grants us faith to turn from our sin to receive the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in every person who is saved by grace and that He empowers us by His grace to live lives that reflect the glory, majesty, truth and love of God; that He illumines God’s Word so that we may understand it and apply it to our lives; and that He empowers all believers with gifts and fruit as we seek to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

The Church

We believe that the Church is the Bride of Christ to which all true believers belong. God has called, chosen and ordained the Church to worship Him, to bring glory to Him, and to reveal His truth and love to fallen humanity. The Church exists to glorify God by gathering for public worship, proclaiming the Truth of Scripture, helping followers of Christ to grow in Christ-likeness, serving the world around us, and sharing the truth and love of Jesus Christ with those who do not yet know Him.

Ordinances

We believe that God has given the Church the Ordinances of the Baptism and Communion. Through water Baptism, we are identified as the people of God, chosen and set apart and incorporated into the Church. Baptism is a sign and symbol of our dying to sin and being raised to new life through Jesus Christ. We practice baptism by immersion, for older children and adults who have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We practice infant and child dedication for parents or families who wish to dedicate their children to God. Through the ordinance of Communion, we are reminded of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the Cross and we are nourished spiritually through grace to live out all that Christ commands. Baptism and Communion are not means of salvation, but they are instruments of grace through which the Holy Spirit enables us to remember, celebrate, and live in response to God’s grace and covenant promises.

The Return of Jesus Christ

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost: the saved to the resurrection of eternal life in the Kingdom of God and the lost to damnation and eternal separation from God in Hell. Jesus Christ will return in glory to reign and rule as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
